Dallas & Plano, TX — Est. 2024
Every night, restaurants discard surplus bread that could feed hundreds. Bread Brigade gets it to the people who need it — fast, local, and student-powered.
Restaurants across Dallas produce surplus bread every single day — but logistical barriers make donation feel impossible. Small teams, long shifts, no time to coordinate pickups.
So edible bread gets thrown out. It rots in landfills, releasing methane — a greenhouse gas over 25× more potent than CO₂. Meanwhile, families across Dallas go without.
The problem isn't a shortage of food. It's a shortage of systems.
Restaurants across Dallas want to do the right thing — but without a simple system for getting surplus food out the door quickly, it ends up in the trash. Bread Brigade removes that barrier.
Student volunteers collect surplus bread from local restaurants at the end of each day and deliver it directly to shelters — earning community service hours along the way, while keeping edible food out of landfills and into the hands of families who need it most.
"The issue isn't a lack of food — it's a lack of efficient systems to redistribute it."
Partner restaurants bag up their leftover bread at the end of the day. No extra coordination required — we handle everything from there.
Local student volunteers collect the bread and earn verified community service hours required for graduation — meaningful work that benefits everyone.
Bread goes straight to local shelters and drop-off sites the same day — fresh, safe, and ready to feed families across Dallas and Plano.
We work hand-in-hand with local restaurants, shelters, and student volunteers across Dallas and Plano to make every rescue possible.
